the rand-up (seventeen)
so much life, so little blog. a comeback story (take two).
i think i set too many arbitrary rules for this substack, when all i wanted to do was write and create and share. so away with the curation of it all, i’m just going to try and share everything i am loving, with no real schedule (but a bit more often!), and with no structure (i’ll do two beauty items if i want!). because i’ve been so time poor recently, because… we moved house, i started a postgraduate in marketing, and work has been busy busy. so let me share what i am enjoying this week, and see you again soon :)
album
the life of a showgirl
my first listen was with friends in my new house, drinking aperol spritzes (core memory)… so maybe it was the prosecco or the good company, but i feel like i’m one of the few who actually really likes this album! there’s so much discourse online, but i went in with little expectation and was pleasantly surprised!
my favourites (today): father figure, the life of ophelia, cancelled!, eldest daughter (THE BRIDGE!), actually romantic (my new favourite phrase).
beauty
by me and crew semi-cured nails
i like the idea of having my nails done, but the time and effort and cost to go to a salon is too much for my adhd brain to plan out. i used to resort to painting my nails (always black with glitter because it’s easy to cover up any mistakes)… until i can across by me and crew.
they’re semi-cured, meaning they are flexible to put on the nail and trim, and then you harden them with a uv light. after you’ve done it a few times, it gets easier, and they really do last. and as i said before, as a black nail only girlie, i have been going outside my comfort zone and chose GREEN and BLUE options! crazy by me.
self-care
five minutes of morning sun
so, we moved! within five weeks of seeing the house, we somehow owned it! total whirlwind. but it is our dream house, and one of the big selling points was our floor-to-ceiling glass windows that lead onto our massive backyard and deck.
every morning, even if it’s overcast, the light pours in and it’s just beautiful. so every morning i try to sit in the sun and have a moment before the day starts. it’s been a really nice ritual, and i think my body is saying thank you for getting up off the couch and giving me some vitamin d!
beauty
cosrx poreless pink clay mask
as we are all learning, korean skincare it where it is at! my skin absolutely loves clay masks, but the cosrx poreless pink clay mask, it ADORES. the day after i use this, my skin is clear, matte yet glowy, and a dream to put make-up on (i barely even have to touch up for 12+ hours!).
korean skincare has changed by skin, and my bank account is happier because it’s so much cheaper than most other brands! lila beauty is my go-to site, and they are so speedy (my last order arrived in 20 hours from when i placed it!).
